SATs instead of or with GED?

Postby Nicky » Wed Dec 07, 2005 1:45 pm

I have my GED but I'm not sure if i need to take the SATs also to go to a community college. Does it depend on each individual school, or is it a definite yes or no? I though I got out of having to study for and take the SATs when i got my GED but maybe i was wrong. Anybody know anything about this?

it all depends on schools. most community colleges do not care about sat's.

Hello,
The community college I attend required me only to take a placement test. They sell study guides at the book store for these types of test. You may also be able to contact the testing service center for more info. I suggest you study up so you can make it into college credit courses that will go toward your major.

Hope this helps

Your high SAT’s and GED will present an interesting combination to admission committees, and you certainly have a shot at four-year colleges and universities. It’s possible, in fact, that even elite colleges will keep you in the running, but that will depend on a number of factors, including how long you were in high school, how you fared while you were there what you have done since you left, and the circumstances that led to your earning a GED instead of a more typical high school diploma.
